The Producer:
Beau Lee
Beau Lee lived in Brooklyn, New York for seven years, where he developed relationships with both observant Hasidic Jews and those who had left the community and entered secular life. This direct exposure provided him with a nuanced understanding of a world that is often misunderstood from the outside.
Drawing on this experience, Lee wrote Shalom City & The Wandering Jew, which brings a member of this community into a contemporary, allegorical setting that explores identity, exile, and return.
As a student of Jewish culture, history, and theology, Lee brings a perspective shaped by lived observation and sustained study. This foundation informs his work as a writer and producer and guides the development of the Shalom City saga.

“THE STORY OF THE JEWS IS simultaneously bitter and sweet. history has brought such intense suffering. The nations wonder: “IF THEY’RE CHOSEN AND BLESSED, WHY such TROUBLES?” The Jews wonder: “Where is God in our suffering?”
SHALOM CITY & THE WANDERING JEW WRESTLES WITH all THE hard QUESTIONS we dare not touch. There’s no film like it. For the Jewish people and for this film, the ending is full of sweetness.”
